Before You Begin

Before starting the troubleshooting process, ensure you have read and followed the initial setup steps in the user guide.

Basic Troubleshooting Steps

1. Hard Reset the Controller - Video Guide:

If your lights aren't responding, or the app shows no connection:

  1. Hold the button on the controller

  2. Unplug the lights

  3. Plug the lights back in

  4. Continue holding the button for 10 seconds

  5. Follow the set up steps to re connect your controller

2. Check App for Updates and Permissions

  • Open your device's App Store

  • Search for "Pixel Dancer" and check for available updates

  • When opening the app, allow all requested permissions:

    • Local network access

    • Bluetooth

    • Location services

3. Verify Light Count Settings

If the lights aren't responding in Direct Mode:

  • Go to Settings in the app

  • Locate Port 1 and Port 2 light count settings

  • Enter the exact number of LEDs installed (each strand has 25 lights)

  • Example: For two RGB strands, enter 50 lights in Port 1 light count


Network Mode Troubleshooting

1. Firmware Updates

Check the controller firmware version is up to date. This changes occasionally. The best place to check for the latest firmware version is at https://minleonusa.com/support/?rainminRGB

To update firmware:

  1. Switch to Network Mode

  2. Go to Settings

  3. Look for "Check Update" near Port Light Count settings

  4. Click Update and wait for confirmation

2. Wi-Fi Configuration

Important: Chromaglow controllers require a 2.4 GHz network band

If you don't have access to a 2.4 GHz network:

  • Contact your network provider for instructions on enabling 2.4 GHz band. Some common network instructions are linked below.

  • Ensure you're connected to the same network used during initial setup

Web UI Issues

Random Light Behaviour

If lights are turning on/off randomly or showing unexpected patterns:

  1. Open Pixel Dancer app settings

  2. Navigate to the Web UI interface

  3. Go to the 'Shows' section

  4. Unselect any preset shows (tap the blue checkmarks)

  5. Check timezone settings:

    • Go to Configuration

    • Select the correct timezone

    • Verify 24-hour time matches your local time
