2. Switch to Satellite View
Hover over the "Layers" icon in the bottom left corner
Click "More" in the menu that appears
Select "Satellite" as your Map type
Ensure "Globe view" is checked to enable 3D viewing
Note: 3D viewing is primarily available in larger metropolitan areas. You can still measure rooflines without this feature by following the measurement steps.

4. Enable 3D Perspective
Click the 3D button on the right side of the window, or
Hold down Ctrl while dragging your mouse on the map to adjust the viewing angle
5. Take Measurements
Right-click on one end of your roofline
Select "Measure distance" from the dropdown menu
Click the other end of the roofline segment to complete the measurement
To measure additional sections, right-click and select "Clear measurement" first
Repeat the process for all sections of roofline you plan to illuminate
Pro Tip: This measurement tool can also help estimate tree crown sizes for wrap lighting!
6. Calculate Total Length
Add all your measurements together
Add 15% extra length to account for measurement variations
Important Considerations
Measurements may not be perfectly accurate - use them as estimates
Add 15% to your total measurement when ordering materials
Consider breaking up longer sections into manageable lengths
Account for power cord routing between different roofline sections
Next Steps
Once you have your measurements:
Choose appropriate base wire lengths for your project
Select bulb type and spacing
Calculate the number of clips needed
Plan your power source locations
